For the defeat of imperialism and the enclave of Israel

Tuesday, 24 June 2025 11:33

On Saturday, June 21, the US became directly involved in the war that Israel had declared on June 13/6 on Iran by attacking military targets, nuclear and oil transport logistics sites, in addition to the assassination of several military and political leaders. With the so-called “midnight hammer” operation, the US bombed nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan. Two days later, at the time this article was going to press, the Trump administration announced an alleged ceasefire, which has not yet been confirmed by either Israel or Iran.

The Iranian parliament recommended closing the Strait of Hormuz, a decision ultimately taken by the regime's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Twenty percent of the world's daily oil consumption passes through this strait, a key place for international trade, especially for Europe, the United States and also for China. Therefore, if the conflict extends over time, the economic consequences at world level will be very important, since this tends to produce an increase in the price of oil, which makes freight rates more expensive, leading to an increase in general prices which lead to an increasing inflationary pressure in the midst of a world recession.

Some Iranian regime officials will meet with Putin seeking to strengthen alliances. Iranian missile attacks on Israel continue, which is causing an acceleration of a political crisis within the enclave and doubts about where Netanyahu's policies are leading them.

By intervening, the US is trying to save its partner Israel and reconfigure the Middle East, plunged into a situation of decomposition of US imperialism and the desperation of the imperialist enclave of Israel, which is experimenting the weakening of its power in the region. In this world situation, these military attacks express that imperialism cannot keep up its rule by means of the institutions created in the post-war period and must appeal to military power to achieve tactical triumphs, but which create scenarios of greater world upheaval. Even some of Trump's advisors recommended him not to get involved, since they have a greater threat within their own borders, namely the conflicts triggered by the anti-immigration policy.

We are witnessing a trend towards generalized war, in which American imperialism in decline intends to maintain its world hegemony without having managed to close the development of an open world crisis since 2008. In addition, the processes of assimilation of the former workers' states into the capitalist system, as the situation shows, are becoming more and more catastrophic. The bursting of the unstable equilibrium opens an endless number of political and social processes that imperialism tries to settle with warlike preparations and attacks on the masses and to which we must respond with the preparation of revolutionary processes, to stop the warmongering tendencies and come up with a working class and socialist solution by defeating imperialism and its national agents. We must develop an international struggle to involve a large part of the proletariat in the debate of the international problems and the tasks that arise from them.

We are for the military triumph of Iran against imperialism and the enclave of Israel, but we do not defend the Iranian regime; we appeal to the independent organization of the proletariat, which is the only class interested in defeating its executioners. It is a central task to reclaim the anti-imperialist slogans and confront the sui generis Bonapartist regimes of the Middle East; these puppet bourgeoisies of imperialism are traitors to the Palestinian cause. They are traitors to any idea of national liberation, even of their own countries, leading with their bourgeois nationalist experiments, whether nationalist or Islamic, to the total prostration to imperialism, to the violent repression of the workers and the poor people and to the territorial decomposition of the artificial semi-states created in the post-war period, as we see today in Libya, Syria, Lebanon or Iraq.

The proletariat of the Middle East and the Maghreb must confront their governments and expel imperialism from the region, and destroy the enclave of Israel and thus stop the genocide in Gaza, forming a Federation of Socialist Republics of the Middle East and the Maghreb as a state form of the international dictatorship of the proletariat. The proletariat of the imperialist countries must defeat their governments and stop the war. The Russian and Ukrainian proletariat must fight together to defeat the process of assimilation of the former workers states and transform this war into a war of revolutionary self-defense. The Chinese proletariat must enter the scene against the process of assimilation and join the workers' struggles all over the world. In short, we must seek the intervention of the workers' battalions in all countries, independently, so that, with the methods and organization of the class, we manage to stop the massacre of a new world war, to which they want to lead us.

For an International Conference for the reconstruction of the IV International

Given the magnitude of the crisis, the acceleration of the war preparations and the consequences that this will have for our class, it becomes urgent to call for an International Conference with the currents that still advance the dictatorship of the proletariat. We make this call from the need to make steps forwards in the opening of a debate within the Trotskyist currents; to regroup the vanguard behind a revolutionary program and to be able to intervene in the international situation as a revolutionary leadership that aims to the rise of a new generation that takes up the historic tasks of building the world party of the revolution which in this epoch is the reconstruction of the Fourth International.
